Progress Update #1

Happy Friday, gamers! Borealis here, to bring you our very first True Colours progress report!

It feels very strange in a good way to be doing this process all over again for a new game! I've decided to do these progress reports every Friday to let you guys know how the development is coming along. Of course, it goes without saying that these updates will also come with screenshots and clips of any significant new assets or milestones the game has reached! So, ready for update #1? Here's where we're at right now:

~~Story structure writing: 100% complete!~~
Script writing: 15%
Coding: 0%
Soundtrack: 0%
Sprite artwork: 19%
CG artwork: 10%
~~BG artwork: 100% complete!~~

As you can see, I'm putting my main efforts into the story and script first - I'm planning to start the coding in a little while, once I've got more of the artwork secured. When I reach that point, I'm gonna be coding the first day of the game into a free demo that you'll be able to play right here on Itchio! Watch this space! I'm also leaving the soundtrack for now, but don't you worry - I already have a couple of great ideas that I'll get to work on when the time is right! Also, I'm happy to say that the artwork is being taken care of by TWO amazing artists working together. In the next couple of weeks, I'll introduce you to them both!

Speaking of artists, did you see the first official piece of artwork that I released on Twitter earlier this week? If not, never fear - I've added it to the game page, and in fact, I'll drop it right here! Check it out!

Pretty cool for a first glimpse of True Colours, right? This is our protagonist, and as the game page mentions, I've designed them to look purposely non-gender specific, so that you lovely players can step into their shoes with much more immersion! Not only that, but their name is customisable, so everybody in the game will refer to them with the name you choose! Pretty neat, huh?
