Hello gamers!  It's Borealis here, with a special treat for you all!

Today marks a year to the day that Venus: Improbable Dream was released for Steam and Itchio!  How time flies, huh?

Knowing that a year ago, I finally made this game a reality, is a precious thing for me.  The creation of this game was fraught with uncertainty; for a start, it took me about 3 years to actually finish writing and structuring the story and routes, dipping in and out of the process between so many other things - being in a band, moving to a new city, the loss of an important relationship, physical illness...  all kinds of roadblocks.  Then, once the writing was concrete, the task of coding the entire game, playtesting it, editing and proofreading it, composing the whole soundtrack, and working with an artist for the character sprites and CGs was huge.  In some ways, certain areas of it went quite smoothly, but others were more troublesome and difficult than I first anticipated.  We even failed our Kickstarter campaign, forcing me to fund the entire project out of my own personal pocket.  Sacrifices were made, delays were endured, hope was shaky...

...but bloody hell, we did it.  The humble, ambitious little story I dreamed up in my head took flight, and Kakeru and Haruka managed to escape the confines of theory and weave themselves into reality.  I'm so pleased that this game could be realised in the end, and I say we did it because we did; none of this would truly mean anything unless there were people who felt positively touched by this game, who gained joy from experiencing what it has to offer, and who identify with its message of support and solidarity for mental health.  No matter who you are, and regardless of how big or small our community is - thank you for supporting Venus: Improbable Dream.  Thank you for enjoying this little thing that I made, and giving it strength and validity that it wouldn't have otherwise.  I can safely say that the struggle has been thoroughly worth it!
