Hello gamers!  Borealis here with unbelievable news!

In recent weeks, I asked you lovely lot to fill out a form and let me know everything you could possibly want for a new Borealis-created visual novel game, and you gave me some truly intriguing and tantalising things to think about!  After taking a while to really mull things over and consider what kind of game I wanted to make, and what you guys would love, I can now announce with much excitement...

...development for my second game has officially begun!

Yesssss!  I'm so thrilled to be back at it, and since May 7th, I've been working tirelessly to plot, plan and write this brand new adventure especially for you!  Now, before you all clamour around me like a pack of hungry dogs trying to snag a tasty treat, let me answer some questions you might be having:

Q:  Will this game be a sequel to Venus: Improbable Dream?
A:  No!  This new game will be a completely different story, set in its own universe, unrelated to Venus: Improbable Dream.

Q:  What platforms will this new game be available on?
A:  When it's finally released, the game should be playable on all the same platforms that Venus: Improbable Dream has been ported for, namely PC/Mac, PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox X|S Series.  I'm also looking into the possibility of porting to Android and iOS for the first time, but that's not confirmed yet!

Q:  When will this new game release?
A:  I'd love to give you an exact date, and I'd love even more to be able to say that it'll be this year, but as game development is a tricky and long process, particularly when you're a solo developer, you can never estimate its time frame with true accuracy.  If it's not possible this year, then I'd like to project that it'll be out in the first half of 2023.

Q:  How long will the game be, and how many routes/endings will it have?
A:  Funny question - both smaller and bigger than Venus: Improbable Dream!  I estimate that the play time will be shorter, but there will be 3 distinct routes to choose from, and at least 12 endings to find - some of which might surprise you!  Needless to say, this new game will be a more fast paced and interactive experience than Venus: Improbable Dream.

Q:  How will this game's story compare to Venus: Improbable Dream?
A:  Well, I'm not one for spoilers!  But what I can tell you is that its genre is similarly rooted in slice of life with no fantasy elements, so the events could genuinely take place.  It will also once again contain themes of mental health, but from a very different perspective than Venus: Improbable Dream had.  Finally, it will also take place in the adult world, so don't expect timid students or school settings!

...aaaaaaand I think that's about all I'm going to tell you right now!  I'm absolutely brimming with glee to be creating new content for you all once again, and I'll be flat out with work for the foreseeable future.  However, I'm going to be giving you loads of sneak peeks and opportunities to be involved in the game's creation process along the way, so check out my social media for all the goodies soon to arrive!

There's just one last thing I'd like to address before I pop off to jump into a neck-deep pile of writing; I want to sincerely extend my gratitude towards every single one of you for supporting both me as a developer, and Venus: Improbable Dream.  In a way, this is the end of the Venus: Improbable Dream era, which is a little sad.  However, I'll never stop celebrating what we created, and no matter how many games I might make in the future, Venus: Improbable Dream will stand the test of time as something wonderful that I could not have achieved without you all.

Besides, the book isn't fully closed yet - if you ever want more of Kakeru and Haruka's adventures, all you have to do is tell me!  The possibility of another Venus: Improbable Dream related game, whether a tiny spin-off or a whole sequel, is still very much alive.  If the day comes when you guys make it clear that you want Kakeru and Haruka to return, I might just pick up that book and write a new chapter!
